Redefining Care, Restoring Hope
Focused on Care Without any of the Barriers
We're a Private Practice Psychiatry Office
As a chronic pain patient, you already know the barriers to finding treatment that truly works. You often feel the need to be your own advocate because many doctors and insurance companies don’t fully understand chronic pain or what it means. Maybe you’ve been told the pain is just in your head, that you’re not sleeping enough, that you’re too young to have chronic pain.
We believe you, and we understand the profound impact chronic pain has on your life. When you work with our Colorado Springs psychiatrist for your mental health or chronic pain condition, you can expect comprehensive treatment tailored to you — not just isolated symptoms. We operate as a cash-pay practice to remove insurance barriers and focus entirely on care that meets your needs.
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Practice
Our Pain Care Specialists Have Your Answers
We know that navigating mental health and chronic pain care can bring up a lot of questions. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common inquiries to help you feel informed and confident.
Do you accept insurance?
At PsychPainRx, we are a cash-only practice, which means we do not take insurance. This is for a number of reasons, including the desire to eliminate the bureaucratic hurdles that often come with insurance companies.
By not relying on insurance, we can focus entirely on your care, giving us the flexibility to provide personalized, timely treatment without waiting for approvals or having insurance play doctor. This allows us to prioritize your health and well-being without compromising on the quality of care you receive.
That being said, we are more than happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
What types of conditions do you treat?
Dr. Badr is board-certified psychiatrist in Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and Chronic Pain Management and treats a variety of chronic pain and mental health conditions, including:
- Chronic pain (such as back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, neuropathic pain, and migraines)
- Mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and mood disorders
- Pain management related to injuries or post-surgical recovery
- Complex cases where physical and mental health intersect, such as chronic pain with co-occurring mental health conditions

Do you work with other healthcare providers or specialists?
Yes! We understand that chronic pain and mental health conditions often require a multidisciplinary approach. Whether it’s coordinating with your primary care doctor, physical therapist, or psychologist, we believe in a team-based approach to your treatment. Collaboration ensures that all aspects of your health are being addressed for the best possible outcomes.
What can I expect during my first appointment?
During your first appointment at PsychPainRx, you can expect a comprehensive, compassionate evaluation of your situation and challenges. Dr. Badr will take the time to understand your medical history, chronic pain challenges, and mental health concerns. This is an opportunity for you to discuss your needs, goals, and any questions you may have about your treatment.
We offer a free 15-minute consultation to ensure you feel comfortable with our approach and to determine if we’re the right fit for your care. Our goal is to make you feel heard, supported, and informed every step of the way.

Can you help with pain management that doesn’t involve medication?
Absolutely! We can help with pain management that doesn’t involve medication. While we don’t shy away from the appropriate use of medication to treat mental health or chronic pain, we also offer approaches to manage chronic pain without it.
